Microblading A microblade tool is used to create realistic hair strokes and can also be used for pixel shading (little tiny dots of pigment). The handheld tool and has a row of little tiny needles in the end that deposit pigment when tapped gently or pulled lightly through the skin. It can feel like a scratch. Some clients can experience a very mild discomfort to start with which can become a little more uncomfortable towards the end of the procedure. Machine Shading The cartridges I use in my digital tattoo machine vary in thickness and number of needles, but all operate in the same way. The needle/s are driven in and out of the cartridge and they quickly and gently puncture the skin, I liken it to a sewing machine needle. When the needle retracts, pigment is sucked into the hole made in the skin due to the vacuum created. I’ve had clients explain it is like a plucking sensation although apparently much less painful than trheading. Again some clients experience a very mild discomfort to start with which can become a little more uncomfortable towards the end of the procedure in certain area of the brows or lips. I have had clients doze off whilst using the machine, they say it is because I am very gentle and the machine emits a tiny whirring, like white noise. Lips can be tender in the cupid’s bow area, brows in the bulb area (front of the brow) and eyeliner in the corners but all clients are different. I was surprised by how relaxing I found permanent eyeliner, it felt like a tiny comb being brushed though my lash line and almost felt like it was a gently scratching an itch I didn’t know I had.
