Why I chose to train with Katy Jobbins

I was on furlough in March 2019 and my husband and I happened to sit down and watch Rich House, Poor House on channel 5.  It featured multi-award winning Permanent Makeup Artist and Trainer Katy Jobbins.  Halfway through my husband looked and me and said “that is the perfect for job for you”.  It’s true.  I remember being asked as a young child what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said “a beautician” and I have always been fascinated by makeup and beauty.  I am also artistic and as a child and through my teens and early 20’s, I always drew women’s faces whenever I had a pen or pencil in front of me.  Endless sets of lashes, brows, eyes, lips.

Before contacting Katy, I did a LOT of research including speaking to other successful permanent makeup artists about what they wish they had.  I have a background in developing, supporting and delivering training programs for Vodafone which have impacted 10,000 staff so I know what good training looks like.  I was impressed with the training Katy was offering and equally key for me, was the support she could offer following the training.  I knew securing the best training would be expensive but for me it was a necessary investment.

As they say, the proof was in the pudding and the training was fantastic!  The theory-based training started well ahead of my practical training with Katy and gave me an excellent grounding.  I felt as prepared as I could be before starting my practical residential training with Katy down in Sussex.  The training was one to one so I had her undivided attention and I also got the chance to get to know her.  As well as being fun and interesting, she is also such a positive person.  I watched Katy perform permanent makeup on models and she then watched and supported me when it was my turn.  I was touched by how happy all the clients were with their results.  I will never forget my last model who burst into tears as due to a disability she was unable to do her own makeup and she was so pleased with her new brows.  I drove home after knowing I had made the right career choice.

Since my training Katy has always there been there and this has been key for me.  She is at the end of the phone and always replies the same day, often within minutes to the smallest of questions.  I also have access to an enormous number of resources which Katy is continually adding to.

Katy has just been shortlisted as a finalist for 2 awards at the 2022 Dynamic Women in Business Awards for ‘Inspirational Women of the Year’ and ‘Businesswoman of the Year’ and hopefully she will have more to add to her already sizeable display.
