• What is permanent make up?

Pigment is implanted into the upper reticular layer of the dermis. The pigment can be implanted using a tattoo machine and a manual hand held device. Permanent makeup is also be referred to as cosmetic tattooing or micro pigmentation.

  • Will it hurt?

I use a topical numbing cream that I apply to the skin before the treatment takes place. This makes the treatment more comfortable. We all have different pain thresholds and it is not unusual for clients to doze off during a treatment.

  • How long will it last?

This depends on factors such as age, skin type and environmental factors including skin care choices and exposure to the sun. Generally speaking you can expect your permanent make up to last between one and three years. It is useful to have a review session at the 12 months stage to assess when a refresh session might be needed. A colour boost session puts back any needed definition, shape and colour. Have a look at this clients’ 18 months colour boost before and after results.

  • How will it change over time?

I use Tina Davies pigments that have the highest level of lightfastness this means the colour of your permanent makeup will simply fade to a lighter shade over time rather than changing to an undesirable colour.

Permanent makeup can change to an undesirable colour when pigments that are used do not have this high level of lightfastness. The colours used to make up the pigment colour (such as red, yellow and blue to make a brown pigment) will fade at different rates leaving you with pink or blue eyebrows. It's always very important to check with your permanent makeup artist what pigments they are using and how they perform over time

  • What is the process and how long does it take?

I start with a consultation session which takes around 30 minutes. I assess your suitability, explain the procedure including before and after instructions, we discuss what you are wanting to achieve and I do a patch test. Following a successful patch test you will return for the initial treatment session which takes between 2-3 hours. At the start of this session we will agree the shape, colour and desired effect of your treatment so you are fully confident and can be excited for the big reveal! A top up session takes place six weeks later where any refinements are made, generally speaking the session is shorter than the initial treatment session.

  • How will I know what will suit me?

After discussing what you are looking for I will recommend shape, colour and effect. There is a perfect solution for you which will take into account your colouring, features and desired effect. Tina Davies pigments work beautifully with all hair and skin colours.

  • Does it matter if I have had permanent make up before?

We can discuss this as part of your consultation. Excellent results can be achieved from covering previous permanent makeup and correcting pigment that has faded to an undesirable colour (Tina Davies pigments do not do this), or a wonky shape or line. Please look at my portfolio for examples.

  • Is it safe?

I always complete a patch test to test for any possible allergies to the topical numbing cream and pigment. Allergic reactions are rare.

Needles and microblades are pre-sterilised and fully disposable and a new one is used for every treatment. I follow all tattoo infection control guidelines as per my training to minimise the risk of infection.

  • How will I be protected from COVID-19?

You can be reassured that I have passed the GTi COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Control course and I am following all relevant government guidelines.

  • What ingredients are used in your pigments and are they vegan and cruelty free?

The ingredients are a combination of powdered pigments, glycerin, witch hazel, aqua, rosin, benzyl alcohol, and isopropyl alcohol. They are gamma-ray sterilized, vegan and cruelty-free.

  • Are there any side-effects?

Immediately following the treatment there may be some redness, tenderness and slight to moderate swelling to the treated area which usually disappears by the next morning.. In the days following the treatment there may be some scabbing and flaking of the skin.

immediately following the eyeliner treatment there can be some minor swelling and slight redness to the treated area which has usually disappeared by the next morning. It is possible tiny flakes of pigment may come off in the following days.

Following your treatment you will be fine to drive home, return to work and go about your usual activities for the rest of the day.
