How many sessions will I need?

When considering permanent makeup brows, eyeliner, or lips, some clients are surprised to learn that two sessions are essential.  You will have your initial appointment, followed by a top-up session around 6 weeks later.  So why are two sessions required?

1. Healing and Skin Regeneration

After your initial permanent makeup procedure, your skin begins a natural healing process. As it heals, some of the pigment can fade or be lost, this is completely normal and is to be expected.

Skin type, aftercare, and individual healing response all affect how the pigment settles. The top-up session allows your technician to see how your skin has healed and adjust or add pigment where needed.

2. Colour and Shape Refinement

The first session lays down the foundation of your new look, but the top-up session is where I perfect it. At the second appointment, I:

  • Fill in any areas where pigment has faded

  • Adjust colour tone, if necessary

  • Refine the shape and symmetry

  • Make any subtle tweaks to ensure the result is balanced and natural

Think of it as layering—a gradual, two-step approach ensures your results look soft and natural rather than harsh or overdone.

3. Long-Lasting Results

By committing to both sessions, you’re investing in the longevity of your permanent makeup. Without the top-up, results may appear uneven or fade more quickly. The second session helps to:

  • Lock in the colour

  • Build pigment retention

  • Ensure even, consistent results that last

Most clients find that after their top-up session, they won’t need any further maintenance for 12–18 months, depending on lifestyle and skin type.

4. Tailored to You

Everyone’s skin is different, and how pigment heals can vary. The top-up session is the opportunity for me to assess your individual results and tailor the final outcome to your unique features and preferences.

In Summary: Two Sessions means the Best Results.  If you’re considering permanent makeup, you can look forward to having your initial and top-up sessions—because you deserve the best.
